A German court on Tuesday sentenced a 28-year-old student to 11 years and three months in prison for repeatedly using drugs and raping his girlfriend and filming the abuse.
In a case similar to that of French Gisele Pelicot, the Munich court said the defendant, named only as Zhongyi J., attacked his unconscious lover at least seven times.
Zhongyi J. recorded the abuse every time and saved the videos on a hard drive, the court said. In one case, the attack lasted more than three hours.
“The goal in each case was to calm the victim so much that he did not show any feelings of self-defense even when he was in great pain,” the court statement said.
Zhongyi J. was found guilty of six counts of aggravated rape and two counts of attempted murder.
Before announcing the verdict, judge Markus Koppenleitner said the crime had shown “contempt for humanity and women to a very appalling degree”.
