Hong Kong star Gutsy Ceci Lee is eyeing more World Cup glory days after a tragic accident

Hurt but not bowed, Ceci Lee Sze-wing is gearing up for another assault on international honors after a serious fall during her UCI Track World Cup campaign in Hong Kong.

A sprint silver medalist on his home track last Friday, Lee collapsed following a collision while competing in the same discipline as part of the omnium competition two days later.

But in Malaysia on Friday, the Hongkonger will be back on his bike in pursuit of a fourth place from this year’s triathlon World Cup, after taking gold and bronze in the opening event last month in Perth.

Herve Dagorne, the head coach, said the quick turnaround following Lee’s weekend slump would allow him “another chance to get up and do a different job”.

“After the race on Sunday, I was positive and I thought it was good that the accident happened,” Dagorne said.

“(Lee) started with a positive mindset but he hadn’t raced with these riders for over a year. He was still in the Asian race, and the speed you need to make decisions surprised him.
