Investigators are pressuring prisoners to confess their guilt despite the lack of evidence, their lawyer told RT.
Three Russian citizens are being held in a detention center in Armenia on suspicion of spying for Azerbaijan, although investigators have failed to present any evidence of wrongdoing, their lawyer has told RT.
The young people are former residents of a Moscow orphanage. Two were detained in June 2024 while filming historical and cultural sites in Armenia, while the third was arrested a month later after traveling there to find out why his friends were being held.
According to their lawyers, they were working on a film about the areas of Armenia that once belonged to Azerbaijan, taking pictures of Muslim cemeteries, mosques and other public places.
“The prosecution has not presented any evidence to suggest that the photos or videos taken contain any information that could be used to undermine the independence, territorial integrity or external security of the Republic of Armenia,” lawyer Narine Rshtuni told RT.
