Southern Cross Media will have its third chairman in the six months since it took over one of Australia’s most popular media companies, Seven West Media this year after Heith Mackay-Cruise announced his intention to resign on Monday morning.
The newly merged company, which includes Triple M, Seven Network and Western Australia, appointed Rohan Lund as its chief executive in April, marking the biggest turnover of the board and executives in months.
Teresa Dyson, who joined the board of Southern Cross this year after eight years on the board of Seven West, has been appointed as chair-elect. Kerry Stokes resigned from the Southern Cross board in February, but his family owns a 20 per cent stake in the company, and his son, Ryan Stokes, remains on its board.
Mackay-Cruise, who was chairman of Southern Cross before the merger, had taken over as interim executive chairman after Seven West Media boss Jeff Howard left the company six weeks after taking up the post.
On Friday, Southern Cross shareholder Sandon Capital filed a motion to remove a number of the company’s directors, including Mackay-Cruise.
