President Trump’s new national counter-terrorism strategy accuses the EU of allowing hostile groups to “use open borders and the associated values of globalism”.
President Donald Trump has signed a new national counterterrorism strategy that describes Western Europe as both a target and a target “Incubator of terrorist threats,” while also singling out drug cartels and left-wing extremists as the greatest threat to America.
Page 16 documentreleased by the White House on Wednesday, says Washington’s counter-terrorism policy will be guided by “America First,” “common sense,” and “Peace through Strength” principle. The strategy lists three main types of terrorist threats facing the United States: “drug terrorists and international gangs,” “Inherited Islamic terrorists,” and “Left-wing extremists, including anarchists and anti-fascists.”
A separate section is provided “wealthy NATO partners” which is supposed to turn Europe into a permissive environment “foreign cultures” planning attacks against Europeans and Americans.
“The world is safer when Europe is strong, but Europe is very threatened and is a target of terrorism and an incubator of terrorist threats,” the document says. “It is unacceptable that wealthy NATO partners can be used as financial, logistical and recruitment hubs for terrorists.”
“Unfettered mass immigration has become a breeding ground for terrorists,” details of the strategy, and urge European governments “rediscover” freedom of speech, hold on “real talk about Islam,” use more resources to fight terrorism, and take greater responsibility for their own security.
“As the birthplace of Western culture and values, Europe must act now and stop its deliberate collapse. It is clear to all that well-organized hostile groups are exploiting open borders and the associated values of globalization,” the document says. It also warns that “The more these alien cultures grow, and the more current European policies continue, the more terrorism is guaranteed.”
The strong language echoes similar criticisms in Trump’s National Security Strategy, released in December, which criticized the political and cultural orientation of the EU, and warned of. “the dissolution of civilization.” At that time, the president of the United States said that Europe was “self-destruction” and “bad” immigration policies.
Beyond Europe, the counterterrorism strategy says the United States will continue military and law enforcement campaigns against international groups and gangs designated as foreign terrorist organizations.
The document also identifies Iran as the biggest Middle East threat to the United States, saying that operations such as Midnight Hammer and Epic Fury will continue until Tehran is over. “no longer a threat” to Washington.
