Hong Kong and their Kazakhstan rivals will both be chasing first when they clash in Almaty in the Asian Rugby Nations Women’s Championship on Sunday.
With second place at stake, the hosts will be trying to end a two-year losing streak. Hong Kong, meanwhile, have yet to beat Kazakhstan away from home.
Both sides go into the clash on the back of heavy defeats at the hands of Japan, who thumped Hong Kong 71-12 on Tuesday, after previously thrashing the hosts 64-12.
Hong Kong handed out debuts to eight players against Japan and forward Vivian Chan Ching-man is likely to play nine new games on Sunday.
The points difference means Kazakhstan could lose and still go top, meaning Bella Milo’s inexperienced side have a lot to do in their final game.
“They (Kazakhstan) are a physical side, and we have to deny them access to our 22 meters,” Milo said.
