I moved to Ottawa in 1981 because of a promotion in the Civil Service. I bought a house in Barrhaven, and for the next 12 years, I took the bus back and forth to work. During that time, I worked in various departments, Elgin & Slater, at NDHQ at Mackenzie Bridge, at Tunney’s Pasture, and at Rideau Hall. During that entire period, I walked about 200 meters to the end of my street, got on the bus, and got to work in less than 45 minutes. Except for Rideau Hall, I used one bus for the entire trip.
