US President Donald Trump said his administration’s talks with Iran were “in the final stages” on Wednesday, warning of further attacks, as a fragile ceasefire entered its sixth week with no sign of an end to the conflict.
“We’re in the final stages of Iran. We’ll see what happens. Either we’ll have a deal or we’ll do things that are a little bit worse, but we hope that doesn’t happen,” Trump told reporters Wednesday.
“Actually, I’d rather see a few people killed, as opposed to a lot. We can have it both ways.”
When Trump was asked at the Andrews Joint Center near Washington about where the talks with Iran stood, he said: “It’s about the border, believe me.”
“If we don’t get the right answers, it goes very fast. We are all ready to go. We have to get the right answers – they have to be 100 percent good answers,” he said.
