BBC slams Churchill and fake Gandhi (VIDEO) – RT World News

The British broadcaster aired a Question Time segment featuring historical figures generated by AI

The BBC has been accused of making up “I slope” after Question Time featured AI-generated versions of World War II-era British leader Winston Churchill and Indian independence activist Mahatma Gandhi.

The show, which aired on Thursday, opened with presenter Fiona Bruce introducing AI-generated versions of Churchill and Gandhi, as well as feminist Emmeline Pankhurst and Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.

“That would be a thing, wouldn’t it, if they were actually on our panel. Of course they aren’t. They’re generated by AI. Just a little understanding of the use of technology,” Bruce said before introducing the actual panelists for a discussion on the rapid rise of artificial intelligence.

The clip was widely mocked online, with some users tagging it “I slope.”

“Your funding should be reduced accordingly,” one user wrote on X, calling out the BBC staff involved “a blow to the film and television industry.”

“It’s really a joke that I have to pay a fee for this garbage,” another user wrote.

The British broadcaster, which is funded largely through license fees paid by the public, is reportedly losing around $1.36 billion annually as viewers increasingly turn to streaming platforms and other formats.

According to The Guardian, at least 314,000 households stopped paying license fees last year. The BBC announced a 10% budget cut in February amid the surge arguments on his report and decrease license fee income.
