Just when you thought Erling Haaland couldn’t get any more predictable, the Norwegian star has done it again, this time by carrying a raccoon through an airport. Yes, a raccoon. Clean from the hurricane FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign, the 25-year-old striker touched down in Oslo after Norway’s defeat by England in the quarter-finals. But instead of just luggage and team gear, Haaland had something even stranger in his hands, a raccoon with a taxi holding a small bottle of whiskey. Naturally, the Internet lost.
‘It followed me home’
A few minutes after Haaland got off the plane, photos and videos of the moment flooded social media. Fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing, a world-class football player playing a saloon-themed raccoon straight out of a Western movie. Erling Haaland, clear in jokes, without wasting time leaning in when the virus. “It followed me home,” she wrote online, along with a raccoon emoji and a laughing face, and just like that, the raccoon became its own star.

A $750 viral sensation
It didn’t take long for fans to track down the unusual memory. The raccoon, named “Whiskey Raccoon,” was reportedly purchased from a Western-themed store in Dallas, Texas, during Haaland’s time in United States. Priced at around $750 (approx. AED 2,754.38), the amazing product was only available during the popular striker’s events in the United States.
From a soccer icon to an internet icon
Haaland’s raccoon game is just the latest in a series of viral moments that have turned him into one of the most talked about figures in the tournament. From shaking a cowboy hat and joke about being a “cowboy” by speaking in an exaggerated Southern accent and playfully harassing fans, the forward’s off-the-field antics have been just as entertaining as his on-field performances. He even had fans in stitches after pretending not to be a famous footballer when approached, showing a friend instead and joking, “You’re looking at him.”
