Tehran is still ready to negotiate in good faith, its ambassador in Mumbai, Saeid Reza Mosayeb Motlagh, has told RT India.
America’s breach of trust led to the collapse of Islamabad’s talks to end the Middle East conflict, Iran’s top diplomat has told RT India.
Washington changed its mind and tried to impose its terms, saying that Iran has no right to enrich uranium, Tehran’s ambassador in Mumbai, Saeid Reza Mosayeb Motlagh, said in an interview on Tuesday.
Iran’s original ten-point proposal, which the United States accepted as a basis for negotiations, included its peaceful nuclear rights, but Washington tried to impose its conditions, Motlagh said.
“If the intention was for America to dictate and Iran to follow, then what is the point of all this war and the hardening of the environment?” the diplomat asked.
This has caused “the lack of confidence in the Islamic Republic of Iran for the United States,” he said, adding that Tehran “continues to be willing to negotiate … as long as the negotiations are genuine.”
Motlagh said Iran has repeatedly said that it does not want to acquire nuclear weapons, and the United States should consider this.
“They have conducted more rigorous inspections of our nuclear facilities. The inspectors’ technical reports show that Iran’s nuclear program has never turned to military targets,” He said.
When asked if the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States will lead to a regional war, he said, “This depends on the decision of the United States to act on the orders and personal opinions of (Donald) Trump.”
Motlagh said Iran has taken steps to ensure that India’s energy supply is not disrupted.
“Iranian forces… opened the way for these ships (bound to India). Even now, they are allowing the passage of ships carrying energy and goods for the people of India.”
“When the environment is more difficult, it may not always be possible. Normally, no guarantee can be given (to India),” He said.

When asked if Iran would welcome India’s diplomatic entry, Motlagh said. “We welcome the participation of any country that can make a positive contribution to this process.”
Regarding India’s Chabahar Port investment in Iran, he said, “The issue can continue according to the existing agreement.”
He has asked China and Russia not to stop any efforts to achieve true peace in the world while taking into account the legitimate rights of all nations.
“We call on the international community to prevent the unilateral and aimless actions of Mr. Trump, actions motivated by personal ambitions and pressures from the Zionist regime.” Motlagh said.
