Apple TV broadcast live MLS match shot on iPhone 17 Pro



Apple wants to test its smartphones, as the company is expected to broadcast live Major League Soccer (MLS) matches on television only. iPhone 17 Pro.

Announced Thursday, Apple TV will join MLS to air LA Galaxy vs. Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday, May 23, live from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

The broadcast will be the first time that the iPhone will be the only camera used to record major live sports broadcasts. Apple used the iPhone 17 for special moments of live broadcasts Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers in September 2025, and has been regularly using iPhones to support Friday Night Baseball and MLS broadcasts ever since.

Only 17 iPhones with their triple 48-megapixel Fusion cameras will be used to watch Saturday’s match. In Mashable’s review of the iPhone 17 Pro MaxStan Schroeder hailed them as “the best I’ve ever tried” on a smartphone, with special praise for that 8x zoom. According to Apple, iPhones will be placed throughout the venue to “capture live video throughout the match, including team play on the field, player identification, angles of the goal into the net, and the atmosphere inside the stadium.”
