A man has been left with life-threatening injuries after an alleged attack outside a restaurant in Sydney’s west, as police released CCTV footage in the hope it could help open their investigation.
The 24-year-old man was with a group in the McDonald’s car park on Mulgoa Road, Penrith when they were approached by three men allegedly armed with knives at around 3.15am on March 22.
Police say he was hit twice in the face with a broken bottle and then punched, leaving a large gash on the left side of his face.
He underwent surgery at Nepean Hospital and while he has since been released, police have been told the serious facial injuries he suffered could have lifelong effects.
Footage from inside the restaurant shortly before the alleged attack released by police on Tuesday, shows a man believed to be in his 20s or earlier, wearing a black hooded jumper with a horizontal white stripe, black trousers and black shoes.
The photo shows him with two other men, believed to be 16 or 17 years old, one wearing similar black clothing.
Investigators also reported seeing a white Toyota Hilux with a silver tray and a silver toolbox nearby.
Detectives are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact Penrith Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
