Only eight players are left standing at the Crucible after the second round of the World Snooker Championship has been completed, and a winner is likely to emerge next Monday.
Four current and former champions, John Higgins, Neil Robertson, Shaun Murphy and champion Zhao Xintong, are all in the top half of the draw, while four others who have yet to win a world title, are on the other side of the bracket.
World No. 4 Zhao continues his title defense against 2005 champion Murphy when action returns to the Crucible Theater in Sheffield on Tuesday morning.
Among those in the last half of the draw is China’s Wu Yize, who outlasted four-time winner Mark Selby 13-11 to reach the quarter-finals for the first time.
Leading 9-7 heading into the final session, the world number 10 moved within one frame of a historic victory after splitting the first four frames with the former world number 1.
Selby, who was eliminated in the first round in 2024 and 2025, extended the match by winning straight frames, but a break of 53 was enough for Wu to secure his first victory over the Briton in seven matches.
