During the tournament, fans flooded social media with funny transformations, AI-generated images, human faces, and jokes featuring the Norwegian star. And if you’re active on social media, you might know that many of these interesting changes caught Haaland’s attention.
Instead of ignoring it, Haaland decided to respond to some of the funniest memes about him in a YouTube video uploaded on July 25, 2026.
The Norwegian star admitted that being the subject of internet jokes has changed his life. “Life has changed. Let’s put it that way. In a good way,” he said. Reflecting on the wave of memes, he added, “Memes have been… so cool. It’s been so unreal. You just have to laugh at the memes. People take things so personally now.”

One of the memes compared him to a green onion. Responding to the funny comparison, the soccer star laughed and said, “It’s exactly the same.” When someone sitting next to him asked why so many people and even things looked like him, Haaland jokingly explained, “Cuz I have long blonde hair, first of all. I think it’s fun.”
Responding to a fan-made Viking-themed AI video, Haaland said, “It gives me a hard time. It was good though.” He also said that the memes helped bring attention to Norway and its football team around the world.
