One of five French people who returned to France on Sunday from a ship hit by a deadly hanta virus outbreak is showing symptoms of the disease, French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said.
“Among them they showed signs on the plane to take them home,” he posted on social media. “These five passengers have been placed in quarantine immediately until further notice.
“They are receiving treatment and will have tests and medical examinations,” he added.
Lecornu also said he would issue an order later on Sunday authorizing appropriate isolation measures to be put in place to protect the public.
As of early Sunday, passengers from the MV Hondius have been removed from the ship, which is anchored on the island of Tenerife in Spain. From there, they are flown to hospitals in their home countries or the Netherlands for medical examination.

The plane carrying five evacuated French passengers landed shortly before 4:30 on Sunday at Le Bourget airport, north of Paris.
