Geraint Thomas defends Tadej Pogacar’s Tour de France dominance, says ‘that’s a race’

Tadej Pogacar’s dominance of the Tour de France has become so popular that many people believe the race is already halfway over.

And many feel that the tactics of his UAE team Emirates-XRG have removed any doubt in the Grande Boucle – without giving anyone else a chance to win a single stage.

But former winner Geraint Thomas said that it was up to others to try to win the world championship instead of expecting gifts from his team.

Pogacar has won three of the first 10 stages to open up a lead of more than three and a half minutes over his nearest rival, Jonas Vingegaard.

That was the biggest lead ever for the four-time winner at that stage of the race.

Many people have questioned why the UAE have pulled so hard on the peloton on days that seemed set for a successful breakaway, and where there seemed no danger of Pogacar holding onto the yellow jersey.
