Hong Kong head coach Herve Dagorne praised the performance of the city’s riders despite finishing empty-handed at the UCI Track World Cup on Saturday.
In four events at the Hong Kong Velodrome, Ceci Lee Sze-wing and Chloe Leung Wing-yee competed in the women’s Madison but failed to secure a second medal for the team.
Meanwhile, To Cheuk-hei performed well in the men’s Keirin, finishing fifth in the final to record the best result for a Hong Kong rider in the event.
Dagorne said it had been a “good time”, and the Frenchman was delighted with the 26-year-old’s progress to the final.
“(It was) at this level of performance with, I would say, the best riders in the world. It’s a real, real, real performance,” Dagorne said.
He noted that Kupita “the fastest man in the world”, the European champion Matt Richardson, in the semi-finals. “So this is a very good time of day. This is the attraction,” the coach added.
