If you’ve ever wondered where to buy fresh pandan leaves, salted duck eggs, or those Chinese knife-cut wheat noodles with wavy edges, it’s time to shop for groceries on Illawarra Road. Hong Phuoc and Thai Hung are close neighbors, and each sells hard-to-find (and sometimes, hard to identify) fresh produce including calamansi, longan and breadfruit at affordable prices.
There are many combinations, but Thai Hung is the choice for ready-made meals and desserts such as pandan bean or cassava cake, while Hong Phuoc has a large selection of dessert items (tapioca pearls, ube essence) and a good display of fresh herbs.
