Once reserved for wealthy travelers, Dubai’s high-end hotels have been relying solely on residents, lured by offers to stay as the war drives tourists away.
On the Palm, an artificial island that has become synonymous with Dubai’s wealth, five-star hotels are busy on weekends and holidays once again, despite being deserted by tourists.
Customers are driven by hotels that offer residents-only deals that have become a mainstay of Dubai’s luxury tourism.
“I’ve never been to a Palm hotel because the prices were crazy,” said Fadi Iskandarani, a sixty-year-old doctor who just spent his first weekend at the luxury hotel on the tree-shaped island.
The Lebanese citizen, who has lived in Dubai for five years, decided to choose a residence after seeing that a hotel on the Palm has reduced its rates by a factor of four.
The hotel was not full, some floors were closed because there were not enough guests.
