I vividly remember hearing Donald Trump say “We love Canada” during a meeting in the Oval Office in 2025 when he welcomed our Prime Minister Mark Carney. I also remember when our Canadian “Super Scooper” water bombers voluntarily provided aerial firefighting support during the California wildfires last year. We are now in a state of crisis with forest fires across our country, many of which have not been contained, and many of which were caused by lightning over which we had no control. So, instead of reaching out to officials in our country to see how we’re dealing with the situation, and to offer a sign of help, Trump is threatening to impose additional tariffs on Canada because we’ve created so much smog because of our willful negligence. What a wonderful display of friendship and concern on behalf of his country that should love us so much. With friends like these, do we need enemies?
