Is Tadej Pogacar’s reign making the Tour de France boring?

With Tadej Pogacar on the verge of winning a record fifth Tour de France at the age of just 27, many say his reign has made cycling boring.

Former three-time world champion Peter Sagan said earlier this year, coming from a man who won a record seven green jerseys on the Tour.

Similar accusations were leveled against Spain’s Miguel Indurain when he won the title A big loop five times in a row from 1991-95, or when Briton Chris Froome won four of five between 2013 and 2017.

They were 27 and 28, respectively, when they won their first Tour.

On the bike side, Pogacar should be starting to reach the peak of his years, which means he can win several more Tours.

“Winning is great. I’ll never deny it’s a great feeling to cross the line first,” he said on Wednesday.
