Tigers co-captain Jarome Luai has been granted an early exit as the club looks to put more than $1 million in salary cap space.
Sources who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the issue have confirmed that Luai has the club’s permission to seek a contract elsewhere in 2027.
Luai is the Tigers’ highest paid player at about $1.2 million next season, and he’s made it he signed a contract to join PNG Chiefs entering 2028.
With his long-term future locked elsewhere, the Tigers recently raised the prospect of Luai’s move at the end of the season as the club reviewed his playing stocks and added a replacement at fly-half – Latu Fainu.
More to come.
