LIV Golf: Korea GC boss Kim ‘very excited’ to head to Busan with team up

LIV Golf will return to Korea in May, adding the 14th stop and 10th country to the ever-expanding international tour schedule.

The league announced on Monday that it had signed a multi-year deal with the Asiad Country Club in Busan, and Martin Kim, general manager of LIV’s Korea Golf Club (KGC) team, said he had “been waiting for this for the past six months”.

Tasked with reinvigorating a business that struggled on and off the field during its previous existence as Iron Heads GC, Kim hopes the move to the port city will be a step in the right direction.

“There’s a reason the big Asian Film Festival isn’t in Seoul, but it’s in Busan,” Kim said. “There’s something about that place that adds more flavor to things. We’re really excited to go.”

There is evidence that Korea is ready to embrace a team like theirs. According to Kim, unofficial products using the KGC logo appeared online as soon as they were announced to the public.

“That’s when I said, Oh, I think we did a good thing here,” Kim said.
