Macquarie Group chief executive Shemara Wikramanayake is stepping down as the investment giant’s boss after nearly eight years in the job, to be replaced by the head of its banking division, Greg Ward.
The investment bank on Thursday said Wikramanayake, who has been chief executive since late 2018, will retire from November this year.
Chairman Glenn Stevens said: “The Board extends its sincere thanks to Shemara, who leaves Macquarie in a strong position, with continued growth in each of our various businesses and a highly capable senior team.”
