Argentina’s assistant in the middle of the recent iShowSpeed FIFA World Cup controversy backfires against accusations of racism after a viral clip appeared showing him making monkey-like gestures towards the man.
The man, identified as Micha, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to tell his side of the story. He insisted that his actions are taken out of context. He further claimed that he was imitating IShowSpeed’s exaggerated behavior rather than making a racist gesture.
“I was not racist, I was imitating Speed himself, it disgusts me and the campaign against Argentina has tired me and added if it was ‘racism’ then bad luck for him, he is in ALL the matches hitting balls against Argentina, what will we tell him? Love ya?” he wrote.

To back up his explanation, Micha shared a one-minute video showing IShowSpeed being mocked Lionel Messi from the front row seat during Argentina’s 3-2 win over Egypt, saying he was just imitating a YouTuber’s performance.
About the viral clip
A video of Micha doing monkey-like moves quickly went viral on social media, sparking a backlash.

The incident also came days after FIFA launched an investigation into separate allegations of racist abuse directed at the announcer during Argentina’s Round of 32 win over Cape Verde.

During the match, a fan was accused of telling the announcer to ‘go cry in the zoo,’ prompting FIFA to issue a statement saying it ‘strongly condemns racism, hatred and discrimination of all kinds.’
The government agency has not yet announced the results of the investigation. That said, neither IShowSpeed nor its representative has commented on the matter.
