Rural entrepreneurs should not rush the high-speed rail project


Opponents focus on their own interests, which they deserve. Yes, some agricultural businesses may be lost, and communities disappointed. Some people, like beekeepers, would face huge losses. Decades of hard work may be lost, but new opportunities may arise. What is important is that those facing loss must not be left hanging. Although it has the power to expropriate, the federal government must ensure that those whose lands may be needed for the project, are adequately compensated.
