MANILA, Philippines – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Thursday morning, July 30, submitted the tax records of Vice President Sara Duterte to the impeachment court of the Senate, following the approval of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., House prosecutor Terry Ridon said.
The tax records also include those of Duterte’s husband Mans Carpio and companies related to the couple.
The financial records are among the evidence that House prosecutors intend to use to substantiate Duterte’s claims of undisclosed wealth.
The release of the tax records comes after the Senate impeachment court agreed to release them call for these financial recordsincluding bank accounts, last July 20.
Duterte’s defense team, however, claimed to be the subpoena was illegal, “oppressive, unreasonable, and a violation of the respondent’s and her spouse’s right to due process.”
During the parliamentary justice committee hearing on the impeachment complaint against Duterte, it was revealed that a total of 6.77 billion shillings in large and questionable transactions went through the couple’s bank accounts from 2006 to 2025, reducing the amount declared by Duterte in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth. – Rappler.com
