Lionel Messi is one of the most talked about soccer players at the moment, thanks to his impressive performances during Argentina’s recent matches against Switzerland and England. While there are allegations of FIFA being biased towards Messi, many have come out in support of the Inter Miami star as well.
On July 16, Colombian singer and songwriter Shakira praised Messi after Argentina’s 2-1 win over Messi. England in the semi-finals of the WC, and reached the final. For the uninitiated, Messi provided two game-changing assists for Argentina. He now leads the race for the Golden Boot with eight goals and four assists, taking his tally to an impressive twelve.
Using Instagram, Shakira wrote, “What Leo Messi is doing is amazing! It shows the values of a person who is very dedicated and disciplined, during challenges and everything. Proving that a person is not defined by age or what others say.”
She also acknowledged the role of Messi’s wife, saying, “And I know that having a woman like @antonelaroccuzzo next to him gives him the strength and motivation to prove it.”
Messi and Roccuzzo have known each other since childhood and have been together since 2009. The two got married on June 30, 2017, and have three sons: Thiago, Mateo and Ciro.
