What? don’t want Siri to use your interactions with specific apps? In your phone Settingsgo to the Siri AI section and scroll down to Access to Software. Then, select the app you want to convert and convert Learn from this App on the left side. “Let Siri learn how you use this app to make in-app recommendations,” reads the beta version of the description below this switch. These are enabled by default if Siri AI is enabled.
This updated secret is baked into the phone’s search feature. So, if you swipe down in the middle of the screen, Siri will appear with a Search or Ask bar. You can write in the blank space or tap the microphone icon to ask your question. If you hit enter, it will most likely send the question to Siri for an answer. For example, I wrote “What’s the best way to drive to Sacramento?” in Secret. It found the Maps app using the pre-selected recommended driving route. Not bad! If you want, you can still tap Show Results below the text bar for a more traditional web search vibe.
Screen Awareness
In addition to personal context from that indexing process, Siri can also pull information from what’s currently on your screen. This type of on-screen awareness was previously available as Siri’s “Visual Intelligence,” and it helps Siri feel like it’s helping you no matter what you’re doing.
This makes it easy to double check what I see on social media. For example, I was browsing on Bluesky and I saw a lot of posts about singer Lorde criticizing Meta’s AI smart glassesbut I had not seen the source of this information. So, when one of the posts appeared on my screen, I asked Siri AI, “Where did he say it?” I didn’t need to give specifics about who “he” was or what opinion I was referring to; Siri pulled that information from my screen. Siri then confirmed that this happened at a concert in Madrid and provided links where I could read more.
With Siri AI, seeing is believing. Well, at least see what’s on your screen and what’s around you. Beyond the screen awareness, Apple has a new secret tab in camera appalong with your level photo and video options. If you hit round button in between, Siri automatically scans the image and gives you a quick paragraph of context. Knocking message icon the left side uploads the image to Siri with the option to add a note for more information. Knocking image search icon the right side browses the web for useful links.
Everything, Everywhere
Secret AI is more than just that Apple smartphone assistant; it is also part of the user experience in the entire ecosystem. Siri is on iPads and Macs, with screen connections enabled iPads and a dedicated shortcut Macs. Even of Vision Pro has this new Secret, for the few readers who actually own the hardware. There are hardware requirements, though. For example, Siri AI is only available on iPhone 15 Pro and newer devices—even if you can download iOS 27, it doesn’t mean you’ll automatically get the new Siri.
Coming to the iPhone, the Siri AI features are more widespread than what I mentioned above. “Write with Siri” is another tool when you type text or type text. For example, when I was texting my boyfriend about how to organize our house, I hit the Secret button, told him the gist of what I wanted to communicate (more storage taboos). Then it wrote a paragraph long text message that sounded respectable like I would write and upload it to the message box. A step up from previous automatic recommendations.
