European champions Spain and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal aim to book their place in the last 16 of the World Cup on Thursday as Algeria look to salvage some pride for African football.
Spain will face Austria in Los Angeles, where a win will put them on course to meet Portugal in the next round.
Portugal will play Croatia in Toronto in what could be the last World Cup match for Ronaldo or his former Real Madrid teammate, veteran Croatian midfielder Luka Modric.
The final match sees Algeria aiming to revive Africa’s fortunes after a poor start to the knockout round for teams from the continent.
South Africa, Ivory Coast, Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo have all fallen to the first hurdle in the round of 32 after reaching the group stage.
Algeria, who advanced to the round of 32 with a 3-3 draw against Austria on Saturday, will face Switzerland in Vancouver.
