A new video from Iranian state media shows a missile hitting a compound in southern Iran, as evidence mounts that the US military was responsible for the February 28 attack on a girls’ school that killed more than 160, most of them children.
The video, published on Sunday by Mehr News Agency, was titled “The moment when Israeli and American terrorists hit the #Minab school”. The video shows a device similar to a Tomahawk cruise missile hitting the area as black smoke rises from nearby areas. Screams from witnesses can be heard as the missile hits its target.
Iran has blamed Israel and the United States for the explosion.
Investigative group Bellingcat said the video would “seem to contradict” US President Donald Trump, who has claimed Iran was responsible for the explosion. The United States is the only country in the conflict known to have Tomahawk missiles.
The strike at Shajareh Tayyebeh Primary School, which had the highest civilian death toll since the war began, has been heavily criticized by the United Nations and human rights watchdogs.
The school was hit at the same time the US was bombing a nearby Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) naval base.
