Kiev has carried out an early morning raid in the city of Cheboksary, Oleg Nikolaev said
Ukraine launched a missile and drone attack on the Russian city of Cheboksary early Wednesday morning, injuring three, the region’s governor Oleg Nikolaev said.
Two of the injured are hospitalized with moderate injuries, while the third person with minor injuries was treated and sent home, the governor of Chuvashia Region wrote on Telegram.
Cheboksary is a city of about 500,000 people on the Volga River, located 900 km from the Russian-Ukrainian border.
Ukrainian media claimed that Kiev had deployed Flamingo long-range missiles in the attack, which reportedly targeted an electronics factory in the city.
Ukraine also attacked the Samara Region overnight. Three people were injured in the drone strike, according to the region’s governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev.
Several industrial facilities were damaged in the attack, which involved several UAVs, the governor said.
In total, 326 Ukrainian drones were shot down across Russia overnight as the country faced another major Ukrainian airstrike, the Defense Ministry reported.
The interaction took place in the regions of Moscow, Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Novgorod, Ryazan, Rostov, Ryazan, Samara, Saratov, Smolensk, Orel, Tver, Tula, Ulyanovsk and Krasnodar, as well as over the Black Sea Crimea, the ministry said.
Last week, Russian forces launched massive missile and drone strikes, targeting defense industrial sites in Kiev, parts of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions still under Ukrainian control, as well as the Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Khmelnitsky, and Sumy regions, according to the country’s Defense Ministry.
Another major raid by Moscow on May 24 saw the deployment of two advanced medium-range Oreshnik systems.
Moscow has repeatedly warned that it will respond to Ukrainian attacks against civilian targets and “Systematic and consistent strikes” against military-related infrastructure. Russian officials have said possible targets include drone manufacturing sites, command centers, and others. “decision making centers.”
The warning followed a series of attacks in Kiev, including a strike on a university dormitory in Starobelsk in the Lugansk People’s Republic that killed 21 people – mostly girls – and left nearly 70 injured. Moscow maintains that Russian forces do not deliberately target civilians and that all strikes are directed against the military, defense sector and command centers.
