Trump says a ‘fast and furious’ US strike has killed a prison gang leader in Venezuela

President Donald Trump said late Friday that a “swift and deadly” US strike had killed Tren de Aragua gang leader Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores.

“At my direction, the United States Southern Command launched a swift and deadly strike to kill Nino Guerrero, the notorious leader of Tren De Aragua, one of the most bloodthirsty Terrorist Organizations on the Planet,” Trump said in a post on Social Facts Friday evening, referring to Guerrero Flores by his alias.

“This move was closely coordinated with our friends in Venezuela, with whom we work very well.”

Trump did not specify when the strike took place.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth posted on social media that the strike happened earlier in the week at the Tren de Aragua compound in Venezuela.

Hegseth said, “The operation underscores the joint commitment of the United States and Venezuela to advance the fight against drug terrorists and deny them any safe place in our world.”
