“There was a tremendous amount of trepidation ahead of the summit on the part of America’s allies,” said Susan Glasser, a staff writer at The New Yorker they argued last night. “What Donald Trump has made very clear is that no matter what is written on paper, no matter what laws are passed by Congress, there are no permanent commitments or cooperation, as far as he is concerned.”
