Almost a week after two devastating earthquakes hit Venezuela, survivors were still being found alive by rescuers who have come out of the country to help.
Salvadoran rescuers reached a 44-year-old man trapped under the rubble of a commercial center in the coastal town of Maiquetía early Tuesday, El Salvador President Nayib Bukele wrote on platform X.
The man had been drained of water through a hose while rescuers found a way to reach him safely.
Firefighters from Quito, Ecuador’s capital, which was also dispatched to the disaster area, reported on Monday that they had rescued a 12-year-old boy.
“Five days after the earthquake, signs of life are the main motivation to continue,” read a post on the X forum.

“As long as there’s still room, we’ll keep looking.”
