Cristiano Ronaldo is one of football’s greatest players, and there is absolutely no denying that. As many know, he injured his hamstring during Al Nassr’s match against Al Fayha in February 2026. The international star has since missed Portugal’s friendlies against Mexico and the United States.
Ronaldo has been working on his recovery, and according to the latest reports, he is set to return to the field at Al Nassr on April 3 against Al Najma in the Saudi Premier League. For this, CR7 is also expected to play in the next World Cup, which will start on June 11.
For those who haven’t played, Ronaldo revealed earlier that he plans to retire from football within the next year or two, adding that the World Cup will be his last. Now, Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez shared his honest thoughts on what will be the retirement of the footballer.
With the World Cup just months away, Roberto has made it clear that he is no longer trying to predict Ronaldo’s international retirement. Despite initial comments suggesting that the tournament will be his last World Cup, there is still no concrete indication that it will mark his last match for Portugal.
Speaking to Ben Jacob, Roberto said, “I’ve learned very quickly not to predict the future with Cristiano. He’s got this elite brain about being the best he can be today. If you ask him, he’ll tell you the same thing. He doesn’t make plans.”
Furthermore, Martinez heaped praise on CR7, calling him ‘very influential and important.’ “We won the League of Nations with him. His role is important in our team, marking the last minutes in the danger zone, his threat to score goals, and the way he can finish the action,” he added.
“His thoughts are very inspiring. He just lives every day as if it’s his last, and he wants to improve himself. You never know when it’s going to end,” he concluded.
Cristiano’s contract with Al Nassr is expected to last until the summer of 2027. Despite Ronaldo’s previous comments, his club and international future remains open.
