World Cup while you sleep: ‘selfish’ Cristiano Ronaldo told to quit, USA to win again

Real semi-finalists or pretenders of the home nation? It is difficult to say with the USA team at the moment due to the nature of their opposition so far.

Australia were the latest Group D lambs to be held up for the sacrifice, and they were duly dispatched to Seattle with minimal fuss. Coach Mauricio Pochettino can now start planning what’s next.

The World Cup has always been about team drama off the field, although even by those standards asking Cristiano Ronaldo to openly stop when a teammate is another level, even if that’s what most people think he should do.

Meanwhile, the Tartan Army is still in Boston although they lost 1-0 to Morocco with the only goal scored after 71 seconds probably not being part of the day’s celebration plan.
